Mackenzie runs for BTNM
Our wonderful volunteer, Mackenzie, will be running the Bayshore Marathon on May 23 and has generously offered to fundraise for Better Together.
Supporters will be able to sponsor her run by making a contribution to BT—turning her effort into impact for the individuals we serve.
Thank you, Mackenzie!
Mackenzie’s ‘Why’
"For me, growing up meant constantly moving—new places, new schools, and new beginnings. But no matter where I was, one thing always remained constant: the importance of finding a kind-hearted community.
Through fundraising and volunteering with organizations like Special Olympics and TOPSoccer, I learned how powerful it is to be surrounded by people who deeply care about creating connection and belonging, especially for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
When I came to Northern Michigan, I was determined to find that same sense of warmth again; a place where people show up to support and to build real relationships. That path led me to Better Together Northern Michigan, a community created by caregivers, families, and advocates who are deeply committed to creating a space of belonging where friendships are nurtured and people feel safe, valued, and seen.
Being surrounded by such compassionate, driven individuals has meant so much to me, and this is my first opportunity to give back to a place, and a group of people, that have already given me a sense of home."
